As The Day Goes

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

Friday the 26th of July 2024 and the title of this reflection is going to be As the day goes. So like I woke up this morning to effectively kind of like revise some of the instrumentals that I want to be working on when it comes to like songs that I want to put out before the year goes

out and this is the thing that I guess I have to explain so that you guys kind of like understand what it is that I'm trying to talk about, the frustration that I'm trying to talk about. So effectively, I don't make my own instrumentals, I source my instrumentals from different places. I could get an instrumental from a beat maker, one whom I know personally, I could get an

instrumental from YouTube, I could get an instrumental from a, you know, a beat, kind of like platform, if that makes any sense at all. Now the thing when it comes to these instrumentals, especially when you're sourcing them from platforms like YouTube or platforms like BeatStars, you are effectively buying the license to

use that beat for a given period of time. That period of time may be based on the number of streams that you're able to collect or I think the length of time that you actually have that license for. So some of the licenses that you can get, although these tend to be rarer than the ones that are effectively based on the number of streams that you collect. Some of these licenses do last for a given period of time, for example some of them last for

five years, there are some that last for ten years, but there are also other stipulations that effectively come into play when it comes to the leasing or the buying of instrumentals. Of course there's other options, I can kind of like go into this to a far greater detail, but I don't want to bore you with those this to the instrumental that I'm using. Meaning that to a certain degree, the songs that I

do have and the songs, some of, many of the songs that I've written to, I actually haven't released just yet because I'm yet to finish the song and I'm yet to have finished, you know, yet to record the song itself. So why, you know, why am I frustrated? Why, what frustration is it that I have to express? Well, there is a song that I've been working with this song or I've been working on this song for like a couple of months now trying to basically kind of like you know take my time to effectively figure out what it is that I want to express,

how do I want to express it, when do I want to express it in the song. And you know this is something that happens on a very typical basis. I will find that after having worked with this song for as long as I have, the beat all of a sudden disappears. The beat is all of a sudden unavailable and I can't use that instrumental anymore. Now of course, wisdom has now reminded me pretty harshly that I need to effectively invest in these instrumentals early on if I wish to have access to them so that I can actually bring that song to fruition without running

into any more problems. Unfortunately, I'm quite gutted and I guess I'm a little bit disappointed that I no longer have that instrumental because now I have a song that I very strongly Resonated and very strongly connected with and I don't have the instrumental to work with it This is kind of like increase the complexity of my music creation project and process when it comes to this project because I Now either have to get another instrumental which isn't gonna sound the same

It's just not gonna have the same feel and it's not gonna have the same vibe or I need to make the same instrumental myself which is a challenge that's going to be incredibly difficult or at least incredibly challenging considering the fact that I'm not a beat maker myself and finally I could also try and get another beat maker to make the same instrumental but the challenge in that essence will be to try and get the instrumental to sound better than the original because after all like you know why would you want to have a subpar instrumental.
