Can’t Get This Sound Off My Mind

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

Voices are processed in a series of ways. All of these processes render a specific texture to the sound of artists’ voices that listeners over time learn to love, and right now there’s this specific texture that I heard on this vocal that I really want to draw inspiration from.

At times there’s a phrase that travels around my mind every now and again and it goes something like: “Your song is only as good as your mix”. This basically means that any song no matter how good it may be conceptually will only be as good as the quality in which the production and the engineering of each sound element will deliver.

I’m a firm believer in the notion that the quality of a production or engineering process can have a significant impact on the overall experience of a record, but at the same time I can easily accept the reality that in some cases, the quality of the concept and artist is so good that production and engineering fails to matter at all.

With that being said though I can’t help but have this texture stuck in my head because that’s how I want my next record to sound like. There’s this crazy monkey dancing in my head with pure excitement asking me to imagine how great my record would be if it was delivered both with a brilliant concept as well as a sturdy production and engineering process.

Every day I’m getting more and more excited about different aspects of my music journey and business, so much so that I have to make a note about every moment in which the feeling is swinging by.
