My Honest Opinion About Being an Artist

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

The short and sweet of it is everybody wants to be special. Yes you’ll get a few truly remarkable and introverted individuals that sway from the bright lights and central points of attention but for the most part, everybody is self obsessed with the most impressive parts of themselves.

For majority of my time being a rap artist I always thought I was gifted with this special ability to see the world in a unique way and to be honest with you not much has changed, but I’m beginning to evolve my understanding of the typical traits and characteristics of an artist, and the truth is there is a dark side.

After working on myself, working with others and learning about the stories that ring from one point of the music industry to another…I’m beginning to suspect that many of us can be in some terms…highly deluded and narcissistic children.

I can almost justify the fame drunk stars that have had decades worth of success who are constantly surrounded by people who tell them how great they are, but some of us haven’t been artists for a week and we’re already walking with this ego that’s big enough to make the universe shake in fear.

I sometimes wonder if being a creative is the result of some sort of deficiency somewhere in our history. I say this because sometimes I can’t tell the difference between the mind of an artist and the mind of a child.
