My Overthinker’s Habit

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

On my way to dropping my daughter off to school something came to mind. I often think about the entry point that I want each and every single one of my first time listeners to experience, what song I want to know me for, and what I can do to build that experience for them.

Upon thinking about this idea, I began to wonder about the song that I released last year which I titled Battle Wounds. The reason I started thinking about this song it's because I began to wonder about the potential legal issues that I may face should the song build a significant degree of traction.

That's one of the things that often makes me reluctant to create any more music. I often think about the potential legal issues that I may face before I think about proceeding further with creating anything substantial, because I know it is the quickest way to either go broke or end up in prison in the music industry.

When I bought the beat to Battle Wounds, I had no idea that the sample that featured in this instrumental was taken from a song that was written by none other than singer/songwriter Billie Eilish. Of course I knew of who she was at the time, only I didn't realise that the sample was from one of her songs, and now that I know I'm wondering if I should at all make any attempt to promote this song to a wider audience.

Stuff like this is going to take time and research to rectify, but either way I have a habit of making myself acutely aware of the potential challenges that lie miles ahead.
