Somewhere On The Globe

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

In somebody’s eyes, somewhere out there on a specific side of the globe, is a person I know will believe I am the most brilliant artist they will ever experience in their lifetime. Is it crazy to think that perspective has a lot to do with how we build our ideas of role models and hierarchies? I could be waffling but in any case I digress.

I find a way to tell myself this without developing an over inflated ego because this is how I will cope when I’m faced with the hundreds of superstars whose success and appeal will lead me to believe that I will never be as great as them. I’m allowed to do believe that somebody out there will think that I’m the best, because success in the music industry could be obtained by pretty much anyone if they push themselves hard enough. Especially in this day and age.

With that being said, and this almost goes without saying, I’ve almost given up on the pursuit of claiming the top spot. Really and truthfully, if I walk far and wide enough, I’ll find a secluded corner of the industry where the competition is less fierce, and it’s easier to feel heard by the community in which I truly belong.

I believe that I can build something that is unique to me. Unique enough that it will attract more of the people whom I feel connected to in values and world views. I’m a superstar somewhere on a hidden side of the globe, and I can’t wait to make my way there as soon as I give myself the courage to do so.
