Stillness In Mind

Writer's picture: Made EzeMade Eze

What a wonderful feeling to bask in on a morning of any given day once a soul has learned to still its mind. Right now I’m sitting on the passenger seat of a car heading up to Birmingham as I’m writing this down and for once in my hectic life, my mind is actually still.

As a think it out loud type of person, and a painfully slow learner in my humble opinion, I’m slowly but surely beginning to experience the benefits of silencing my inner and outer voice. Who would have known so much peace and tranquility could come from simply shutting the hell up. It’s a trick so obvious that I’m not surprised if it often goes amiss.

I’m truly beginning to wonder exactly how beneficial this will be not only in my working life, but my personal life also. I’ve often written about focus and how important it is especially in a career like music where your mind has to be divided across a plethora of different departments.

It’s hard to put it into words but I never really imagined that by doing less, one could actually achieve so much more. I’ve got a journal that I keep somewhere that I designed in a way that allows me to keep a series of references all for the purposes of remembering to be or become my greatest self.

With the help of a pencil and a spare five minutes, I should be able to write a simple reminder to filter out all the unnecessary clutter that fills my mind in any given moment of the day. The mind is not always the easiest thing to keep still, but when it’s doable in the funniest sense of the phrase, it’s actually a no brainer.
