Saturday the 27th of July 2024 and the title of today's reflection is going to be the reason why. Now a couple of days ago I spoke about, you know, effectively disregarding everything that everybody says to a certain degree, you know, effectively being able to distinguish, you
know, the information that is useful from the information that is just there purely for the benefit of other people. But in this reflection I want to talk about kind of like disregarding all of the outcomes that you kind of like want out of your music career. Yes you maybe want that financial freedom, yes you maybe want that you know that renowned you know you want you want that notoriety or you want that those accolades you want the you know you want the fame, maybe you want that gigantic
freaking house, you want that you know perfect partnership, you want all of these things, you want that perfect sound, perfect song, etc. However, what I want you to do is disregard all of that. I mean this is something that I am learning how to do as well. Because fundamentally, really and truthfully what you want to be is happy. All that you're really looking for is happiness. For some reason, through your early childhood years or maybe your late childhood years or maybe even your teenage years or your adult years, at some point you
discover this thing called music. You started meddling with it, you started experimenting with it and it started to give you joy through the process. And ultimately that's all it is about. It is purely just about being happy. And whilst it might be a very counterintuitive approach, especially when you have goals that you want to meet. Let's say for example you want to get a song to 10,000 streams or you want a song to go number one. Or maybe you want a song to go platinum or you want it to go gold or bronze or silver or freaking kryptonite for all I freaking know. All of these goals are just effectively things that yes, like you know, whilst it would be
nice that you kind of like got there, these are also kind of like goals that are considerably difficult to achieve. And if your happiness is conditioned or is linked or is conditioned rather by the outcome or the, if it's, if the stipulation of your happiness basically depends on whether these things happen or not, you will see how difficult it is for you to be happy and for you to stay happy. So this is the reason why you're doing music.
This is the reason why I'm doing music. I'm doing music because I just want to be happy. And I mean, whilst it is, again, whilst to a certain degree we are all at war with, like you know, we are at a tug of war between survival and death, right? Like, yes, surviving and just when I say like just being, you know, just the fact that we're not inside the box is a good reason for us to at the very bare minimum be happy. Yes, some of us might be
just just be scraping by, which is, again, a lot of the reasons why many of us pursue this whole music career. But at the same time, it's kind of like, you know, we have to appreciate that kind of like becoming so financially free to the point in which like you know we're not struggling or things aren't difficult which by the way things are still going to be difficult. Yes that would be nice but then also at the same time it will take a while before we get there and some of us may never get there.
It's purely you know it's purely the way I guess the universe works and you know sometimes we have to be very honest with ourselves and recognize that some of the things that we want to achieve we don't really want to achieve because we don't really want to put in the work that we need to actually achieve the things that we want to achieve.
So yeah, hopefully that's made sense. Yeah, so I guess this is my, today's reflection. This is the reason why.
