Wednesday the 14th of August 2024 and the title of today's reflection is going to be Thriving Forward. So I'm beginning to ask myself, I guess, in a certain way, like why is it that the music industry seems to be saturated with a very specific kind of like group of attitudes like I'm asking myself like how comes you know how comes it is that I
find myself like you know surrounded almost by you know a specific group of people that feel you know to a certain extent that they are entitled to this great ordeal of success and attention whilst they are as well in the same room with thousands of people who equally think and feel exactly the same way. I ask myself this question because like you
know when it comes to the title of this reflection, Thriving Forward, right, I wonder, well I don't necessarily wonder, I know exactly how it is that I'm going to be able to gain favour with the people that I want to gain favour from. I mean, first and foremost, I want to kind of like communicate about the illusion of needing anybody at all in the music industry. Yes, like, you know, for a specific outcome or a specific goal that is tied to the requirement
of let's say a booking agent, a manager or somebody who is well connected to the music industry. There are a couple of people that you are going to need. But in order to become the happiest artist that you have ever been, to have gained notoriety amongst like you know a hundred people who truly value your art, I don't believe that you need anybody at all. And I know that I'm going on a bit of a tangent but first and foremost admitting and allowing myself to accept and realise the true value of any given person in the music industry.
industry for 20 years and maybe might be able to get you great connections. These are all words that are thrown around far too easily, right? Far too easily. And you know, many people just in the music industry don't turn out to be the people that they actually, you know, claim themselves to be. And the people that tend to fall for such people are the people that, you know, nine times out of 10 tend to find themselves or believe themselves themselves to be entitled to this great deal of success, to this great deal of just like
you know, attention almost. So I thrive forward not just by allowing myself to realize and actualize you know, who is truly who in the music industry and who will truly be able to help me with the goals that I want to accomplish. But then I also thrive forward by being that which such people are not and what do I mean by that? I thrive forward by not being entitled, by accepting that yes, there are thousands of people who want what I want just as badly as I do, if not more. And I don't make demands, I don't ask people for things, I put myself forward first, I give value first before I even expect value in return. That is, even if I expect
it in the first place. That's how I get people's attention. That's how I stand out. And if there's anybody out there in the universe who's going to hate me for it, then do me a favour and do yourself a favour. Right? Hate me by improving on yourself. Hate me by adding more value to yourself and more value to the people that you want to love by adding more value to yourself and more value to the people that you want to love you.
