Sunday the 20th of May 2024 I can feel my hay fever coming in so it's going to be interesting to record this but I am feeling as though I'm on fire I feel like I'm going to be on fire today and that's a figuratively you know that's a figure of speech it's a figure of speech to suggest that
whatever it is that I'm going to talk about today it's definitely going to be it's definitely going to be eventful to say the least so I think the topic of today's discussion or
today's reflection is that you know I genuinely am of the belief that artists have got a terrible relationship with reality. Now for the longest time I've been using the word artists and I'm being honest like if I'm being honest I feel like I need to be a little bit more specific than that I mean when I'm referring to artists. Now, because I am trying to be a musician, and again, even that word in itself, I need to be very specific when I'm talking about being a musician. Because I'm trying to be a rap artist, because I'm
trying to be a rapper, right, I feel like when I talk about artists, for some reason, I feel like I'm being a bit too generic, because an artist could, you know, you could have somebody who's basically playing piano you know as part of a you know classical band right and that would be an artist and you can have somebody who's basically like painting things on a wall or on a mural and that could also be an artist but when I'm referring to like you know you know when I say like you know artists have got a terrible relationship with reality I'm
specifically referring to the artist that will be making music as in they will be recording music that will be intended to go on the radio for the purpose or for the aim to effectively become famous, popular, you know to kind of like end up on the TV screen to become like a big superstar. Yeah, those specific artists have got a very terrible relationship with reality. And why do I believe this? Well, I believe this because, you know, there are thousands of us who are all trying to do the same thing. And I feel like amongst those thousands of people that are trying to do the very same
thing, there is a significant percentage of people who do not have that realization and appreciation that there is somebody just as equally to the left or to the right trying to accomplish and trying to obtain the very same thing that they're trying to obtain. And so the competition is extremely fierce and yet so many of us are walking around and acting around as though We do not have to fight for our lives for the vet for this very thing that we're all trying to accomplish You know, I don't want to feed into this idea of the scarcity mentality
however unfortunately the industry is set up in such a way where we do fight for the number one spot or the idea of the number one spot because when we look at it from a realistic point of view, if we put our heads together we will all be able to benefit from this journey in a very mutual fashion. But because we want to be number one, because we want to be the person that is revered, the person that is seen up and above everybody
else, we do not want to see the person to the left or to the right of us win. We don't succeed and sometimes our egos are so high off the fumes of their own self standards and their own self beliefs that we genuinely believe that we do not have to crush it. We don't believe that we have to work extremely hard to persevere and to get to this position that we're all trying to work towards. And this is what I mean when I say that artists just have a very terrible relationship with reality. They believe
that they are the most important person in the freaking room. They believe that the world should stop just to pay attention to their art and you know a lot of us are susceptible to this egoic nature. Now whether it's got something to do with like the relationship with our parents or our childhood and stuff like that I'm not entirely sure but I do genuinely believe that we do walk around sometimes as though we're gonna wake up one morning and this success is just
gonna be handed over to us because we're just special because we just have this talent. Well really and truthfully there's thousands of us who actually have this you know the same talent and stuff like that. So like yeah like um you know that's just basically what's been on my mind. I'm gonna be going out soon the weather's nice I'm gonna try and make the most of it whilst I'm still trying to build my career and stuff like that and hopefully I'll be able to unpack this topic in a much more coherent fashion.
