Sunday the 27th of October 2024 and the title of today's reflection is going to be who's responsible? So I guess I find it a little bit challenging to talk about the you know when it really comes down to happiness who's really responsible for making you happy as
straightforward as the answer to that question really and truthfully is, like it's also something that I kind of like find difficult to talk about because it's a pill that's quite difficult to swallow in essence.
The truth of the matter is, if it isn't obvious already, like you know, when it comes to me, I am the sole person responsible for making myself happy. As in, when it comes down to the foundations and when it comes down to the fundamentals of it, it starts and it stops with me. And when it comes to you, you are the person responsible for how you make yourself feel. It's something that's kind of like very difficult to maintain and it's something that's difficult to work with, however it is the truth. And even if
there was no meaning behind my argument, no meaning behind my philosophy. Who are you most likely to get a continued, a sustained kind of like level of happiness? Who are you more likely to get that from? Yourself? Someone who you spend time with pretty much each and every single hour of every waking day? Or somebody else perhaps, maybe like a friend, a relative, a co-worker, whatever it is. Like who is more likely to give you that sustained kind of like happiness. Somebody who is effectively like you know you're always going to be there for yourself. Other people are going to have
their own lives and their own commitments to sort of like worry about and I've always found it absolutely absurd to think that we should effectively kind of like look to other people to make us happy when really and truthfully it's hard enough as it is to look after our own satisfaction from life.
